Logitech 5500 Review

Hey folks this is my review of Logitech’s latest Digital Surround Sound Speaker System Product "The Logitech Z-5500”.

Now this is going to be a fun one for me, because Logitech is actually one of the few companies I trust. I have bought tons of speakers, PC mouses and expensive keyboards and returned just about all of them, seriously. But Logitech’s last product "Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Speaker System" was a definite keeper. So I made this review for you to help you on your quest of making the decision weather to buy or not to buy this product. Now let’s get started:

My Relationship With Speakers

My story with Logitech’s speakers starts long time ago when I got sick of the crappy $10 speakers I always had and that always broke down after a couple of months. I decided that it’s time to adapt to a new, better quality of sound and speakers and, since those who do not adopt extinct, I got myself the Logitech G51 System and I got the Logitech 540 System for my son, Jairek. For the past 2 years I’ve been using this sound system and it never let me down quality, delivery and sound-wise. I found out that there is a new speaker system from Logitech and because I had the money and the satisfaction from the older versions, and it had very good review on Amazon, I decided to advance to the new, Logitech 5500 one.

Company Claims

Reading the company claims I found out that there were a couple of thing missing, for an example the main thing that nobody seems to mention is that these speakers basically have a built-in receiver so you can plug your DVD player or whatever directly into the speakers. This, in my opinion, is so important that all the other competing speaker systems really don't compete. Also, the company sells it for about $399 bucks but, I had a good deal from my friend who owns a computer shop and he agreed to sell me them for $80 if I will give him back my old Logitech G51 system.

The Conclusion

All in All I am very satisfied with this system. It was easily installed and assembled and, it quite simply does what it's supposed to do; deliver great surround sound. I've listened to many systems over $1000 (sometimes WAY over) in many surroundings and couldn’t hear much, if any, more sound quality for the extra money. I could've afforded a lot more for surround but if not necessary, why? I'll use the $900 I saved from getting a much more expensive system, to buy BluRay movies to fully enjoy on this one. This is my Logitech 5500 review, I hope you found it useful!

P.S

I made the mistake that others have made of removing the screw on the back of one of the speakers, rendering it impossible to put the stand back on. And if you open it to fix the problem, you'll void your warranty, so I have to send it to Logitech to be replaced. So, if you need to put these on a stand, whatever you do don't remove any screws on the speaker.
